Get the inside story on the materials and tools available to genealogy researchers at OFL. An overview of the collection will be presented by Donald Specht, library volunteer and experienced genealogist. Special emphasis will be placed upon a new addition to the collection: Census of Inmates in Almshouses and Poorhouses. The history of these records will be explained, and select images from the series will be shown and discussed.

Last year, professional genealogist Dennis Hogan helped us use American records to locate Irish family members. This year, Dennis  is back  by popular demand! This second helping builds on the information that was presented last year, but can be useful to anyone interested in searching Irish records.

Marian Henry, president of the Rochester Genealogical Society, will tell us about the various types of church records - well beyond the familiar baptisms - and the kind of information to be gained from each.  Marian will help us consider under what circumstances the original records were created and how to find them, or copies of them, today.

Learn how to track down information about those who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Ed Groszewski* will share his own research experience in this area, including the discovery of POW/MIAs and the use of DNA!
