When do the Friends meet?
The next Friends of the Library meeting is scheduled for 7:00 pm on Monday, April 16th, 2012 in the library. Everyone is welcome!

Benefits of Being a Friend
What the Friends Do
- Photo copies at $0.05 per copy instead of $0.20
- Early-bird buying privileges at the annual book sale during the Members' Pre-Sale
- The opportunity to purchase books through the library at discounted rates.
- Friends pay $0.50** per held item instead of the $1.00 fee charged to patrons without a membership.
What the Friends Do
- Organize book sales and other activities to raise money to benefit the Library.
- Support the Library through equipment purchases and volunteer time.
- Fund programs for all ages.
- Sponsoring the Junior Friends and their activities.
- Lobby our legislators on behalf of the Library.
- Volunteer in the library, performing such tasks as sorting book donations and reading shelves.
- Representing the Library at community events such as Canal Days
- Helping the Library promote literacy in our community
- Delivering books to homebound individuals in Ogden
- Purchased computer software for use by Library patrons.
- Purchased community display cases used in the Library foyer.
- Purchased furniture for the children's area.
- Purchased an Ellison Lettering Machine and dies for cutting letters and figures.
- Funded a variety of programs for children and teenagers.
- Purchased a DVD/CD cleaner which greatly prolongs the life of our collections.
- Purchased T-shirts, totes, and other promotional items.
- Purchased a cold-press laminator.
- Purchased picture frames for historical photos
- Purchased a full-size popcorn machine.
- Purchased flower and plants for the library garden.
- Funded a Christmas Lunch for the library staff
Friends Scholarships
The Friends of the Library will award two $500.00 scholarships in the spring of 2012. The scholarship application will be open to those who have a connection to the library (a member of the Junior Friends, a volunteer, a staff member). Applicants will write an essay of 500 words explaining their goals, career decisions and how they could benefit humanity. The selection committee will begin accepting applications in January and the decision will be made at the April meeting. The scholarship will be presented at the Award Ceremony at the High School in the spring.
