Thank you to Sandra Hasenauer, who made this beautiful piece in response to our Banned Books Quilter’s Challenge. Sandra's art is based on The Complete Persepolis, an autobiography in two volumes by Marjane Satrapi. Both volumes, Persepolis and Persepolis 2: The Story of a Return are available through the library. At once a story of growing up and a stunning reminder of the human cost of war and political repression, The Complete Persepolis describes the author's life in Tehran during and after the Islamic revolution of 1979.
Celebrate Your Freedom to Read
Every year, there are hundreds of attempts to remove books from schools and libraries. Chances are, someone has tried to prevent others from reading a book that you love at some point in history. Celebrate your freedom to read and right to choose your book! Is there a banned/challenged book that has changed your life? Tell us on Facebook during Banned Books Week, September 22nd-28th. You can also check out our Banned Books Week Quilter's Challenge.
